The second installment of a trilogy dedicated to Ronnie Lane and his band Slim Chance. Mr Horsfall manages to produce a very nice and sympathetic album, which is at least as engaging as part one, The Good Gentleman's Tonic. With the help of several former Slim Chance members Mr Horsfall created a wonderful album. One of the highlights of the album is Chameleon, written by Kate Lane, sung by Des and Pete Townsend. There are of course a number of Ronnie Lane songs on this album but like it's predecessor, Mr Horsfall managed to write some wonderful songs that give you the impression that he found a big chest of unreleased songs on Ronnie's attic. The afternoon tracks all have brief snippets of conversation of Kate Lane explaining te origins of several Ronnie Lane/Kate Lane compositions. Part three, called The Troubadours' Entourage, is in the making. I can hardly wait to get my hands on a copy.
