  • This EP took a couple of listens to get into but when I did I really enjoyed it and listen to it often. Wasp Nest is a great opener, the lyrics alone are enough to impress (though anyone who listens to The National know very well by now that that's no surprise). The 6 other tracks are great pieces as well, All The Wine and the title track especially, but for me the true highlight is Wasp Nest, even if the rest of the EP were uninteresting, I'd still say 'as long as there's ONE good track...'The one point I do want to make about it though is the generous quantity of music here; typically, an EP goes from 4-7 tracks and is rarely more than half an hour running time, in most cases, artists treat EP's as maybe a four or even three track release (some even call their two-track singles 'EP's by not naming the release after a song and charge the same price), but 7 tracks is really nice, and even if you don't like half the material you still have a few decent songs for the collection. All in all, The National have always seem interested in giving fans just what they want: more songs. Hurrah!
