Notes

This is a release of the first performance of Harry Partch's dance-satire, which took place at the University of Illinois' Champaign-Urbana campus in 1957.
The performance featured musical instruments designed and built by the composer and played by above mentioned members of the University of Illinois Musical Ensemble.
℗ 1973 & © 1997 Composers Recordings, Inc.

This recording was originally released on Partch's own label, Gate 5, has been previously released in 1990 on CRI as CD754.
It is very important to note that all pre-2005 releases of this recording (except the original Gate 5 release) were released in "Imitation Stereo."
In 2005, New World Records released the first accurate CD of this work, 80624-2, only in MONO, true to the one and only Master Tape (recorded by Lyle Dahms in 1957) of this performance, which was recorded only in "full track mono." I co-produced and engineered this 2005 restoration project for New World Records. I thought it important to not employ any sort of "imitation stereo" program, and finally release the full length CD in original MONO, from the original master tape recorded by Lyle Dahms, meticulously restored in 2005...
Anyone can easily employ any number of "Imitation Stereo" programs available online if so desired. I just thought it wasn't a good idea to force everyone to listen to it that way.
